9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. The Five Myths of Masking Astigmatism -
This course will provide participants the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively evaluate a variety of astigmatic vision conditions and apply the appropriate toric contact lenses for enhanced patient outcome. The course will give the contact lens practitioner confidence in choosing and fitting toric contact lenses. Upon completion of this course, the participant should be able to: examine prevalence and distribution of astigmatism in the population; learn the effect of astigmatism on visual performance; point out the most common reasons ECPs avoid toric fitting, and point out their inaccuracy. 1 Hour NJ / NY /  NCLE

10:15 a.m. - 12:15 p.m. Contact Lens Complications -
This course will review common contact lens complications. Topics will include common corneal and anterior segment eye diseases, as well as a discussion of contact lens solutions and their preservatives. Some basic slit lamp techniques will be discussed, as well as how to handle emergencies and the importance of appointment scheduling and proper phone triage. Upon completion of this course, the participant should be able to: review ocular anatomy; learn examination methods, both external and slit lamp; phone triage and appointment scheduling for medical complications; learn the difference between infectious vs. non-infectious keratitis; understand how solutions affect contact lens wear; learn most common treatments for common eye conditions.  2 Hours NJ / NY /  NCLE

For years, advertising has been considered taboo in health care. This course will provide a basic introduction to marketing a private practice with a Unique Selling Position and creative approaches to patient education. Upon completion of this course, the participant should be able to: identify the importance of private practice health care marketing; differentiate between traditional vs. health care marketing; demonstrate the ability to create marketing materials to educate the patient. 1 Hour NJ / NY /  ABO

2:15 p.m. -3:15 p.m. Top 10 Marketing Mistakes to Avoid -
Many eye care professionals commonly ask the question, “What do I need to do to increase my number of new patients?” Unfortunately, this question is often tied to common marketing mistakes many of the same practices are making. This course is designed to illustrate the Top 10 most costly marketing mistakes and provide insight on how to avoid them.Upon completion of this course, the participant should be able to: demonstrate the ability to identify marketing methods that are ineffective and costly; demonstrate the ability to define a target patient base that will generate profits based on the practice’s community demographics; demonstrate the ability to implement effective marketing and tracking techniques that will increase new patient intake. 1 Hour NJ / NY /  ABO

In today’s competitive marketplace, marketing to women is one of the most effective ways to increase your sales. However, creating marketing materials that effectively target and motivate women is not as easy as it may seem. This course is designed to reveal the fundamentals of female gender culture and how they affect private practice advertising. Upon completion of this course, the participant should be able to: identify the primary reasons marketing to women can be an effective segment for private practice growth; demonstrate the ability to identify the differences between marketing materials that appeal to women vs. men; demonstrate the ability to execute practical strategies and tactics to attract prospective patients.
