Electronic measuring devices utilize a system of built in cameras and infrared LED’s to obtain 3 dimensional patient measurements. Lets take a look at measuring the following:

Patient’s pupilary distance – also known as the patients PD;

Height measurement required for fitting single vision lenses on center – also known as the OC;

Seg Height measurement required for multifocals and Progressive Addition lenses – also known as MF and PAL;

Recommended vertex distance – also known as VD;

Pantoscopic frame angle – also known as pantoscopic tilt.
