Can we take market share from our competition if we lower our price?

This would of course depend on your demographics, but is usually not recommended. Many of the big box stores and chain retailers can purchase goods far cheaper than you can due to their buying power. They are selling it for less because they are buying it for less. If you lower your margins too far, you may actually lose money on every sale.
