About Ellen
Ellen Stoner is a retired Opticianry Instructor at Durham Technical Community College in North Carolina, and is a past Program Director for that program. Ellen is currently the Director of the Commission on Opticianry Accreditation (COA), and formerly served six years as a Commissioner. Ellen is a past recipient of the National Federation of Opticianry School's (NFOS) "Educator of the year" award. Ellen co-authored the book "Optical Formulas Tutorial" published by Elsevier. Ellen is a Licensed Optician in North Carolina, and was a Licensed Optician in Connecticut and Massachusetts for several years before moving to NC. Before attending the Optical Dispensing program at Worcester Technical Institute in Massachusetts, Ellen was a computer systems analyst and a free-lance photographer.
