What You Need To Know About The New ANSI Z87.1-2003 Standard The purpose of this course is to give the eyecare professional an understanding of the ANSI standard and how it applies to the dispensing of safety eyewear. This course will allow the eyecare practitioner to understand the new ANSI Z87.1-2003 standard. They will know what it is and how it applies to the practice that dispenses prescription safety eyewear in industry or for home safety. Learning Objectives Upon completion of the course the participant should be able to: define the ANSI standard; comprehend how the new ANSI standard applies to the dispensing of safety eyewear; identify the major changes from the old ANSI standard to the new one; describe the basics of the impact tests that separate the different levels of lens performance in the new standard; recognize the importance of dispensing the proper level of protection to patients; demonstrate, to a patient, the main features that distinguish protective eyewear from dress wear. |
