This course is designed to help in understanding and being able to reiterate that understanding to patients the differences between contact lens prescriptions and service charges versus spectacle prescriptions and service fees. This course also reviews how contact lenses and their solutions are classified by the FDA and how because of this classification there are differences in prescription expirations and appointments. It also explains the differences in solutions from one step and two step and complications that can arise from either type.
Upon completion of this course, the participant should be able to: explain the reason why there are differences between contact lens prescriptions and spectacle prescriptions; explain and understand why contact lenses are monitored as medical devices thru the FDA; explain and understand why contact lenses have separate service charges; understand why contact lens solutions are also classified as devices and the differences between one and two step solutions.
