Surveying the magnificence of the Universe it is all too easy to be captivated by its grandeur. Looking up into the night sky is an awe-inspiring phenomenon. Though astronomy and eye care differ much on the surface there are also many connecting points of similarity. This course will “connect the dots” between planetary science and the field of contact lenses – much like the stars of Orion’s belt. Using mnemonics can be quite helpful as one seeks to understand the complexities of contact lenses. Through this course the reader will uncover a sense of joy as they learn many of the fascinating minutiae of fitting contact lenses. After completion, the student will be able to demonstrate a deeper understanding of many of these points of interest and be able to apply this new-found knowledge to the clinical setting.
Upon completion of this course, the participant should be able to: learn new ways to use mnemonics to study the field of contact lenses; comprehend different disorders related to contact lens wear; learn diverse contact lens fitting techniques and qualities; understand different lens types and their usefulness within the practice.
